Salt Water Taffy Recipe
Ingredients:
1 c of sugar (granulated)
2 Tbsps of cornstarch
1/2 c of water (at room temperature)
3/4 c of corn syrup (light)
2 Tbsps of margarine; softened
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of pure oil flavoring
Food coloring
Instructions:
Combine the sugar with cornstarch inside the saucepan; add the syrup, water, margarine, and salt. Cook while stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved; continue to cook, do not stir, to (260 degrees F) on the sugar thermometer. Take out from heat and when the boiling stops, add flavoring and coloring the transfer on the buttered baking sheet.
Once it has cools, grease your hands then pull ’til the color becomes lighter. Cut to pieces and wrap with waxed paper.
