Knox Dainties Recipe
Ingredients:
4 envelopes Knox gelatine (unflavored)
1 c of water (cold)
1.5 c of water (boiling)
4 c of sugar (granulated)
1/4 tsp of salt
Food color (Red & green, optional)
1 tsp of cinnamon extract (not powder)
1/2 tsp of peppermint extract
Instructions:
Boil salt, sugar and hot water. Soften the gelatine with water (cold) then put into syrup, stirring ’til dissolved. Slowly boil in 15 mins. Remove fire then divide mix to two even parts. Drop 1 part with red food color and cinnamon flavor and other half with green color and peppermint flavor.
Wash two 8″ x 4″ pans with cold water then pour mixture 3/4″ thick on pan. Place in cool dry place and let candy thicken about 12 hours or more. Wet a knife and loosen pan’s edges. Put on confectioners-covered board and slice into bars. Coat using sugar (confectioners’) or with fine sugar (granulated).
