Fruit Drops Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c of sugar (granulated)
1/2 c of sugar (light brown)
3 Tbsps of butter
1.5 c of milk
1/8 tsp of salt
3 Tbsps of light corn syrup
1 pack coconut (flaked, 7 ozs)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/2 c of pecan nuts; chopped
1/2 c of maraschino cherries; quartered
Instructions:
Cook milk, sugars, syrup, salt and butter quickly, dissolving the sugar. Lower the heat then cook gently to a soft-ball period, about 238 degrees Fahrenheit on thermometer (for candy). Remove heat then add the vanilla and quickly beat ’til cooler and smooth for approximately 1.5 minutes.
Introduce the pecans, coconut and cherries. Form mixture to balls or just drop mixture on waxed paper. Creates about 50 candies.
