Date Nut Roll Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c of sugar (granulated)
1 c of milk
1 Tbsp of margarine or butter
1.5 c of dates; chopped and pitted
1 c of pecan nuts; chopped
1 tsp of vanilla extract
Instructions:
Boil sugar, butter and milk on moderate fire ’til it becomes a flexible ball if dropped in cold water, 234 deg Fahrenheit. Pour the dates, vanilla and nuts. Beat mixture with wooden ladle ’til creamy.
When candy becomes cool, roll mixture on butter-brushed waxed paper to form log. Put in refrigerator overnight then slice chilled. Creates about 20.
