A Delicious And Easy Alternative To Traditional Pecan Praline Candies
A pecan praline creamy candy is very much a delicious and creamy sweet treat which is literally available in all candy stores and gift shops in New Orleans. When you go to the French area you might even have a chance to watch the expert candy makers make this sweet treat while you’re watching.
There’s actually a very neat trick and tip that will make your praline candy-making efforts much easier and more effective. The traditional way of making it actually needs candy thermometers to accurately tell if your pecan candy mix is already done.
If your sugar mix isn’t heated enough then the tendency is that the candy might not really harden properly and turn out soft and gooey which is something that you’d like not to happen. If your heat is also over the top, candy might turn brittle. The sugar mix needs to be stirred all the time so that you get good results.
To those who have problems making these delicious sweet treats, here’s a recipe where you could use the microwave to create these sweet treats. This method that I’ve devised will make you these yummy treats in no time at all and no stirring is needed and you could even do away with your usual candy thermometers.
Although this isn’t going to be as great as the old fashioned pecan pralines but they will be a great substitute. But you could always decide that for yourself. Do give this recipe a try though.
You will need:
2 tbsps of softened margarine
1 lb of sugar (light brown)
2 c pecans, chopped coarse
1 c of cream (for whipping)
Blend together cream & sugar then put this inside a microwaveable dish and cook in your microwave for about 13 mins. on its high settings. After 13 mins, take it out of your microwave then add in your pecans and margarine then stir well to incorporate all the ingredients well.
While still hot, prepare a cookie or baking sheet then place some wax paper on it. Drop the candies by the tablespoonful onto the cookie or baking sheets that have been lined with wax paper. Allow them to cool off.
For sure, you will get great results with this candy recipe and only minimal effort is required. You need not stir everytime, you’ll not need your thermometer anymore and cooking time is really fast.
Although the traditional way of preparing this candy still is the best method, at least for those that are not so good in the kitchen will have their chance to churn out these delicious and yummy candies and please their guests as well.
You could also try and substitute the pecans with another kind of nut that you’d like. The possibilities are endless; you just have to be creative
