Glaced Cherries and Nuts Recipe
Ingredients:
1.5 c of sugar (granulated)
1 c of corn syrup (light)
1 jar of nuts (salted & mixed, 12 ounce)
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/3 c of water
2 Tbsps of butter
A container of candied cherries
Instructions:
Dissolve corn syrup, water and sugar on moderate fire. Cook, do not stir, and maintain temperature of 300 deg Fahrenheit. Preheat your oven, 350 deg Fahrenheit. Arrange cherries and nuts on a 9″ rectangular pan. Put into oven and heat for ten minutes. Set aside and keep it warm.
Brush butter on 17″ x 14″ baking sheet then take syrup away from fire, 300 deg Fahrenheit. In fast pace, put warm nuts/cherries, vanilla and butter.
Stir quickly ’til butter is melted. Pour on baking sheet then spread unto edges using wood spoon’s back; let it cool down on racks in 1.5 hrs. Loosen then break it into several pieces. Keep in sealed container with waxed paper layers.
